The Camino Zadar is a Croatian section of the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage network, officially recognized as part of the Way of St. James. This unique route weaves together spiritual, historical, and natural landmarks across the Zadar region, guiding pilgrims all the way to the beautiful city of Zadar.
Stretching for about 110 kilometers, the Camino Zadar is usually completed in 5 to 6 stages. It begins at the Maslenica Bridge on the Adriatic coast and winds through charming villages, olive groves, and ancient towns steeped in Roman and medieval history.
Just like in Spain, the Camino Zadar route is marked with the iconic yellow arrows and scallop shells. Pilgrims can collect stamps in their credential (pilgrim passport) along the way, and those who reach the end of the trail in Zadar can receive an official certificate of completion, known as the Compostelana.
The itinerary is fully custom-made. It depends on the number of participants, duration (the number of days), the type of accommodation, and the type of transportation, and can be adjusted to your preferences.
Known for its Roman ruins, medieval churches, and modern architectural wonders, such as the Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun, Zadar is a place where ancient history and contemporary living intertwine to create a vibrant destination.
This is one of the smallest towns in Croatia, famous for the Church of the Holy Cross, known as “the smallest cathedral in the world.” Reach of history and interesting architecture, Nin is one of the most visited places in the Zadar surroundings.
Located between the fertile plains of Ravni kotari and the rocky landscapes of Bukovica, it is a town where history and nature meet. The area is home to the ancient Liburnian and Roman site of Asseria, offering a glimpse into Croatia’s deep past. Overlooking the town stands Kaštel Benković, a 15th-century fortress that now houses a regional museum.
