TRANS DALMATIA BIKE TRAIL
ABOUT TRANS DALMATIA BIKE TRAIL
The Trans Dalmatia Bike Trail is a multi-day cycling journey that reveals the essence of the Zadar region, from historic towns and fertile plains to quiet islands and protected natural parks. Designed for passionate explorers – cyclists with panniers, it connects the mainland and islands into one circular adventure.
The trail begins in Zadar, a city rich in heritage and sea views. From here, the route leads north to Nin, a town of royal history and salt fields, before returning to Zadar. Crossing by ferry, you reach Ugljan and ride across the island to Muline. A short hop over the bridge brings you to Pašman, where the road continues south. From Tkon, a ferry takes you back to the mainland, landing in Biograd. Just a few kilometers inland lies Lake Vrana Nature Park, a peaceful stop surrounded by a rich tapestry of birdlife and traditional Dalmatian countryside. From here, the trail returns to Zadar through the fields and vineyards of Ravni kotari.
The second island loop of the Trans Dalmatia Bike Trail begins with a ferry from Zadar to Brbinj on the island of Dugi otok. Cycling north, the road leads to the lighthouse of Veli rat before turning south through fishing villages and quiet bays. The journey continues to Sali down south, the cultural heart of the island, with a side trip into Telašćica Nature Park – a dramatic landscape of cliffs, salt lake, and hidden coves. From Sali, a boat returns you to Zadar, completing the circle.
The beauty of the Trans Dalmatia Bike Trail lies in its flexibility. With available GPX tracks, cyclists can follow the suggested route or shape their journey, staying longer in places they enjoy, adding extra loops, or simply riding at the pace that suits them best. It is a route made for discovering Dalmatia on your terms, with the freedom of two wheels.
