Very nice experience We were looking for two bikes so we could ride to Nin, a small city near Zadar. In Zzuum they welcomed us in a friendly way and gave us all the information we needed. For only 200 kuna we rented two brand new bikes for 24 hours. The road to Nin goes up and down but with the bicylce gears it was child's play. We would really recomed Zzuum!

Enjoyable day of Cycling We rented 2 bikes in the morning for the day. We asked for the route to Nin and we were given a map as well as oral directions on how to get there. The bikes we were given were in great condition and simple to use. We were also given a bike bag with a lock, a spare wheel, pump and tuning at no extra cost. There's also the option of keeping your bikes overnight if needed. We really enjoyed the opportunity to see more of the area and to get some. exercise in too. I'd highly recommend renting bikes from these guys for a cheap yet thoroughly enjoyable day out.

Friendly bike rental service This was the only physical bike rental space that we found on Zadar. The others deliver.
Zzuum staff were friendly, gave us island maps and ferry times, and the bikes were fine.
The cycle paths on Ugljan are not well marked! But Zzuum's advice on hidden swimming coves was perfect and we had a great day without the crowds.
Remember to go to the (very modern and efficient) Gazenica ferry port with the bikes to get to the islands, and not the pedestrian-only ferry in the Old Town.
The next day we cycled to Nin. Again cycle path signs are not good and all the one way route out of Zadar is against you. But this made coming back a doodle! Nin is spectacular with the salt pans and very exposed beach. Mid August is not the time to go! Crowds and too hot for those withnsun-sensitive skin

  • Four of us rented MTB bikes from Zzuum and did a self guided 3-day tour along island Dugi otok.
Bikes were goof quality, reliable, maintained, prepared for the route. Everything listed as a part of the price came with bikes.

Communication with Zzuum was efficient, fast and professional.

Big thanks to Mrs. Adrijana who waited for us to return bikes even after working hours due to our tight schedule.

Highly recommended! Nicolas was very helpful in organising our cycling tour of Uglian and Dugi Otok. The bikes he provided us with were in great condition and very well equipped with panniers, water bottle, tools etc. We booked our own accommodation (as his recommendations were fully booked) and Nicolas provided the bikes, suggested routes and transfers, including a private boat transfer from Pasman to Dugi Otok and luggage transfers as required. The transfers all worked faultlessly with very pleasant drivers. I'll also add that Nicolas was very patient and helpful with our requests and was a pleasure to do business with.

Nicholas at Zzuum customised an eight day, self guided, cycle tour of the Zadarian hinterland and archipelago for my wife and I, earlier this month. He was extremely flexible to our wishes and needs and produced a tour which we will long remember and almost certainly repeat. Our trekking bikes, though three years old, were in perfect working order (and are due to be replaced next year). The itinerary was carefully planned to include the most beautiful parts of a beautiful area. The accommodation was just what we requested and the luggage transfers, ferry and speedboat transfers were seamless. The customer service was the best we have encountered in many such cycle tours and in particular, Nicholas's attention to detail in the weeks of preparation made a potentially complicated tour so very easy and enjoyable. Many, many thanks.

Perfect We went there ahead of time to find out what this would be all about. They were extremely helpful. We arranged a time for the next day. At the end of September, they seemed to have plenty of extra bikes. They gave us bottles of flavored mineral water and snacks to take with us. They told us how to get to the ferry for biking the island. I admit we were a little confused trying to find the ferry but after I spent more time looking at the map they gave us, it was really my fault. They provided a pack on the bike so we could put our extra things on the bike instead of our backpacks. The island is super beautiful. We biked a lot and had a nice dinner at a quiet restaurant along the sea.

Pannier bags were provided for all our things as well as spare tubes/ pump and toolkit in case of any problems. The bikes themselves are ideal with good gearing( needed it for some of the hills up to a fabulous viewpoint!) and disc brakes. Lovely people who will accomodate your every need with a smile. Don't go cheap, just go Zzuum! During our holiday to Croatia this summer, we decided to have a cycle trip around the islands using the ferry. So we needed two proper bikes (not those wrecks you tend to get in most rental shops) with bags and some decent advise. We looked at all the options, others offered fairly cheaper, but were immediately persuaded by Nicolas's professionality, knowledge and swift response. A whole lot of questions went back and forward but this was no problem what so ever. So once arrived the bikes where all ready and waiting for us. After a patient briefing on where to go and what to do we set of escaping the masses for Dugi Otok. I would recommend doing this slightly later in the season, like in september, if you're not so good with the heat but overall, it was a beautiful experience giving us the most stunning views. Would do it again in a heartbeat!!

Good bikes & exellent service We rented our bikes online, and everything was well prepared when we arrived in Zadar. The bikes were good, and took us around on asphalt and dirt roads in Zadar, Ugljan, Patsmani and Dugi Otok. We especially got fond of the coast road from Preko all the way down to Tkon, and the area around Sali. Two tips : Need a break from biking ? - try one day on a guided kayak tour ! (zzuum knows who to contact) Note that the boats between Zadar and Sali usually don't take bikes in the high season !
    Conclusion : highly recommended !

AN ISLAND OF DIVERSITY AND CONTRASTS

Dugi otok

SAHARUN

First of all, the beach Saharun is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Croatian coast. It has gained the reputation because of the white sand and clear blue sea. Saharun is surrounded by pine trees that provide a welcome shade in the summer. Obviously, these are all reasons for its popularity. Furthermore, it is almost 800 metres long and at some 250 metres from the shore it is 3.5 metres deep.

SALI

Village Sali is located on north-eastern coast of Dugi otok and has the largest population. It is very popular tourist destination because of its vicinity to the Kornati National Park and Telašćica Nature Park. You can discover its rich past in several churches, enjoy numerous outdoor activities but one thing you shouldn’t miss – Sali Festival called Saljske užance and its unique Tovareća mužika (donkey music).

LIGHTHOUSE

The lighthouse Veli rat was built in the 19th century and it is 42 metres high. In fact, Veli rat is the highest lighthouse on the Adriatic coast. Just behind the lighthouse you can find the chapel of St. Nicholas. As soon as you get here, you will realize why this is so popular destination. Definitely, a “must see” while on Dugi otok!

The best bike rental company in Zadar! We enjoyed a great day trip with bicycles from Zzuum.

Their location in Old Town was convenient to pick up the bikes. They hooked us up with a panier, maps, and recommendations for taking the ferry and exploring Ugljan island. The bicycles were in excellent shape, with sturdy tires and shocks in case of unpaved roads.

Zzuum was great to work with. They also lead excursions, adventure tours, and guided cycling holidays. We highly recommend them if you're visiting Zadar.

    Highly recommended!

Fitleafsof - Karma retreats Nicolas and his team were really friendly and very helpful with the bike set up etc...for our Karma fitness and yoga retreat group. The island was beautiful and the maps etc were very straightforward. There’s an amazing restaurant at Kali right on the water. Part of group did the hill cycle to St Michal view point. This is not a leisurely cycle so would only advise to cycle this if your prepared for steep climbs....saying that the view was well worth it in the end - stunning!
Would definitely recommend the trip & we will definitely go through Zzuum and Nicholas when we are back in Croatia hosting our next Karma retreat 🙂

Rented bikes to explore Ugljan Island My husband and I rented bikes so that we could explore Ugljan Island. My husband spoke to Nicolas who ensured all the bikes were ready for our arrival and he provided maps and routes so that we could get the most out of our day’s ride. The bikes were high quality Marin’s which were really comfortable to ride. We had a brilliant day and highly recommend Zzuum if you are thinking of hiring bikes in Zadar.

Perfect last day in Croatia This was such an ideal day, picking up a bicycle, fully functional, maps, ferry tickets and tips for what to see on the islands. I would recommend doing this over 2 days if you want to do justice to Pasman and Ugljan Islands, there's so much to see and many places to swim. The islands are idyllic, covered in ancient olive groves and terracotta coloured houses. Highly recommend using Zzuum and getting yourself and a bicycle over to Zadar's islands, well worth it.

Guided E-bike trip to Ugljan island Had an absolute wonderful day trip, thanks also to our super guide Luca, to Ugljan island. The e-bikes were brand new and Luca was a very very good and inspiring guide with huge knowledge of many things. A real pleisure to talk with. If ever we visit Zadar again we will sure make a cycling trip with Zzuum and Luca as our guide, again.

Great bike service in Zadar I had one day and didn't know what to do. They helped me a lot and I spent a great day cycling around an island. Totally recommend and can't thank you enough.

Excellent bike hire We hired a couple of bikes from here, took over on the ferry to Ugljan. The mountain bikes provided were excellent quality, and certainly felt safe and reliable. We did have a couple of punctures (unlucky in one trip!), but luckily we'd been kitted out with spare inner tubes and tools so we could change the tyres easily enough. Fabulous day trip...hiring the bikes meant we were able to see more of the island.

  • Very helpful, we wanted to start a ride on dugi otok but the ferry schedule was not suitable, the manager suggested we go on preko because there is more ferry. This advice we were allowed to go for a ride in the best conditions. The bikes are in good condition and group rates are interesting.

Zadar to Uglian Island - Ferry and Bicycle Tour This was one of my favorite days on my last trip to Croatia. At the last minute I purchased a day tour for a self-guided bicycle tour of Uglian Island. I picked up my bicycle and gear at ZZuum Active Vacation in old town Zadar. The price included outbound and return ferry tickets, the bike, a map, a discount coupon to a restaurant, a drink and snack. I caught a Jadrolinija ferry from the port to Uglian Island and in 25 minutes I was cycling the island. There are beautiful views, villages to explore, and places to swim. It was a great day, and the representative at ZZuum was friendly and efficient.

Excellent bike & route tips I visited Zadar in early October. As I was looking to explore one of the islands by bike, I stumbled upon Zzuum as suggested by Google. Compared to some other rental places, this looked the cheapest one. I went there in the morning and as October isn't the busiest time of the year, there still were some bikes left (in summer I suggest making a reservation in advance) - I paid around €15 and could have the bike until the next morning. I had a route on my phone, but fortunately one of the people there, told me about a flood a few days before that, so he advised me to take another route. He gave me a map and showed me the way to follow and which ferry to take. I really was a nice route (starting in Preko on the island Ugljan), with some nice climming and good downhill tracks as well. Thanks for the advice, if I'm ever around again, I know what place to go to!

Great bike tour to Ugljan The bikes we hired were brand new and Nicolas prepared everything for us according to our height. We were provided by spare tyres, maps, energy drinks. The location of the office is great as you can easily ride to the ferry port.
It was a real adventure for our kids, we enjoyed the nice views and the hidden beaches.
Zzuum staff is very professional, I recommend their service and hope to come back soon for another tour.
    Thank you Zzuum !

Day trip to Ugljan We hired two great, well maintained bikes from ZZuum for a day trip to Ugljan Island. As we wished to take them with us on the early ferry they kindly allowed us to pick the bikes up the evening before we left. When we collected the bikes the staff member was extremely helpful with information, maps, cycle routes and even all necessary ferry information. We had the best day - the bikes were great to ride and we think very good value. We would most certainly recommend their service.

Cycling and enjoying without worries We did the self-guided trip to the island Ugljan with our 2 kids. Zzuum reservated the tickets for the boat to Preko. They also have given us useful information and a map with the tours you can cycle on the island. The bikes were perfect and we got drinks and energybars.
The path next to the sea led us to Kali and Kukljica, 2 nice villages. Everywhere you have the opportunity to have a swim.
We have enjoyed our daytrip. The kids were also very ecxited.

Great trip to Ugljan We took the bike trip to Ugljan Island. It was a package including bike, ferry tickets and more. Price was 37 eur/person which is a very fair price. Bikes were in excellent condition.
At Ugljan we took the trail to sv. Mihovil, highest point of the island. It's a tough climb but worth the effort. After that we followed the coastline trail to the end of the island at Gospa Snjezna and back.
Very nice trip and really recommendable if you are seeking an active holiday.
None of us we're experienced mountain bikers but there a so many trails at the island that you can suit it for every level.

Ugljan Island Self-Guide Bike Tour Great day out on Ugljan Island! We booked a day out on Ugljan Island for a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children). Filip was very helpful, taking the time to explain the route and the best places to visit and even making the effort to bring us some water when we got to the top of Tvrđava Sv. Mihovil. The views are breathtaking and well worth the effort. If you plan to go with small children and take a trailer (as we did) then make sure you get clear instructions from Filip, as some of the coastal paths are very narrow. Overall a great day out and fun for all the family.

Wonderful deal, incredible experience! Ugljan is beautiful, and being able to see so much of it both on and off road was a truly amazing experience. The views are breathtaking; everywhere you look, you're astounded. The bikes are very very good quality and handled all different kinds of terrain without any issues what so ever - they even provide puncture repair kits, inner tubes, and a pump just in case which is very handy (although thankfully unneeded). Wouldn't recommend doing this in the peak of summer as we were there in April and the temperature was in the mid 20s (weather was wondrous also, clear skies and a brilliant sun overhead, light wind) and I don't think I could've cycled around for 6 hours if it were any hotter.

Be sure to take lots of water with you as once you go off into the island, if you run out, you run out and the last thing you want to do is double back and waste time. (Got through about 2-3 litres total, though bought another litre whilst there).

ONE GREAT EXPERIENCE ON TWO WHEELS

Pašman & Ugljan

KALI

Village Kali is the biggest village on the Ugljan Island but also the biggest village of all Zadar islands. Its history goes back to the 13th century. This picturesque village is most famous for its fishing tradition, in the first place tuna fishing. Also, it is known for excellent homemade olive oil produced from the olives that grow on hundreds of years old olive trees. As a matter of fact, tradition and modern way of life live side by side in this dynamic and remarkable village.

PAŠMAN

Pašman village is situated on the island of Pašman which is connected with Ugljan island by the bridge. This village is first mentioned in 11th century under the name Postimana. It has two beautiful sandy beaches and a few ports with moorings but also a several restaurants with high quality and fresh local food. Those who like long walks in the nature will be able to enjoy the smell of aromatic herbs that grow in abundance on Pašman fields. To sum up, no wonder Pašman has become popular tourist destination!

ĆOKOVAC MONASTERY

Benedictine monastery Ćokovac is located on the top of 95m high hill. It was first built in the 11th century. Since then it was devastated several times and built again, last time in the 14th century by the Benedictines themselves. As a result of its position, it has been the guardian of the Pašman Channel for centuries. Today it is not only the place of peace and quite for the monks who live there but also the site with the breath taking view on the area of Kotari, Vrana and mountains Dinara and Velebit.

Extensive effort but great views The Leisure bike ride was not leisure at all! We rode our bikes a little over 13 miles long up big hills. One lady fell off her bike cuz they were a little hard to ride. I think they lump the leisure and the intensive one together. It was also over 2.5 hours. Closer to 4- maybe cuz our group was slower. The views were beautiful though. It was great to have a local take us around and answer our questions. It was a lot of fun, and we were glad we did it! But the seat really hurt our butts- we were sore for the next 4 days.

Fun Bike Tour around Zadar This bike tour was a great way to tour around the town of Zadar, Croatia. The folks at Zzuum Bike tours were great to work with, both in arranging the tour in advance, and also in being sure that we had the bikes set up properly and that we knew the local "rules of the road". Our guide, Nevio (I'm not sure about the spelling), was wonderful. He talked about his own experiences as a young man in the area and shared lots of interesting historical information. We stopped several times for short breaks, which was nice, and we had a great lunch at a little restaurant right on the beach. All the email exchanges I had with Nicolas in arranging the tour were also very helpful. I highly recommend these guys if you are contemplating something a little different for your stay in Zadar.

A bit strange. Normally with bike tours you get to see the best bits of the city + some explanation of local history. Not with this one. The tour is not authorized to go into the old city so it’s around the suburbs ( not pretty). The guide was a good guy but there was too much cycling in light industrial areas in significant traffic and heat. So beware. Good view of the city from the top of a fairly steep hill.

Great Overview of the City This ride is about 14 miles (including one big hill that a few of us struggled with). Our guide was incredibly friendly and was able to tell us about the city. I do wish there would have been a little more history at the various stops, but we got to see a lot of the city. We were forced to move quicker than normal because one of the other people on the tour had a lunch reservation. But this tour really made us fall in love with Zadar.

Loved our Bike Tour of the Coastline We had a great tour guide but I'm sorry that I can't remember his name but I took a photo. His English was excellent and speaks a number of languages. It was a great opportunity to cover a lot of area that we would have never seen if we just tried to walk. Croatia was my favorite country on my trip of Slovenia, Italy, Malta and Montenegro. The Croatian people have been through so much and I can't help but love the people and their country. The coastline and beaches are fabulous. There was some confusion as to the starting time and we had to wait on another group to arrive so just be sure to verify your starting time. My bike and helmet were fine. Wish I had more time in Croatia.

Perfect way to spend 3 hours in Zadar We met Nevio and Ncolas at 10:00 and were shown our bikes - new and very comfortable. Nevio showed us a map with our three hour route around the bay and up into the hills above Zadar. Nevio stopped every once in a while to point out and explain what we were seeing - very informative. He had a great sense of humor and answered any questions, historical, political of just inquisitive. We biked at a good pace and got a good workout going up the hill for the vista of Zadar. This is a bike ride for somewhat fit people, not those out of shape looking for an easy ride. This was a great tour with a great service.

Fun Day in Zadar My family of 4 did a private bike tour of Zadar - it was very hot, and there was a challenging hill to get to the panoramic view spot, but our guide was careful to stop along the way and let the kids rest. Gentle exercise good guide 5 of us booked a bike tour with ZZuum. The bikes were well maintained and Nicholas the ? owner and Ante our guide were fun and pleasant.

Ante was very knowledgeable and took us around Zadar but not much of the old town.

There were good views from the top of the hill. A little steep at the end but all of us in our 60 s and we all made it.

Very nice bike path along the ocean on the way home. Thanks to Ante for the tour . Recommended if you want gentle exercise and want to see more of Zadar other than the old town.

Great Bike tour Zzuum's bike tour of Zadar was very good. The tour guide (Luka) was a friendly guide and it was great getting to see a lot of the old town and surrounding areas within a just one afternoon. There were nice views of the entire city from a hilltop and it was nice being able to learn about the city from a local's perspective and see other less touristy areas. And Nicolas was extremely helpful in organising the tour for me at short notice. Would fully recommend Zzuum for Zadar tours/excursions

A great way to explore Zadar! My husband and I booked a morning guided bike tour with ZZuum before we left the UK. The booking process was easy and we received an email confirmation soon after. Nicolas contacted us a couple of days before our tour to suggest we made an earlier start on the day of our tour because high temperatures were expected. This suited us well, and we met our guide Sandra at 9.30am. For the next 3 hours we enjoyed a fascinating insight into this lovely city. The cycling was enjoyable, with numerous stops, including one for coffee near the marina, allowing Sandra to share her knowledge and enthusiasm for her home town. We learnt so much from her about its history and about more recent events, as well as suggestions about where to eat traditional food and where to buy Croatian products. Many thanks to Sandra for such an interesting introduction to Zadar! It's definitely the best way to see around!

Just a Wonderful Experience I was in Zadar for just a day on the Celebrity Constellation. I always look for bike tours and have taken them in 20 or so cities around the globe , from New York to Paris and Tokyo.

I made inquiry of Zzuum about their 3 hour explore Zadar tour. It was available for October 9 and Phillip invited me to make a 12 euro deposit of the 40 euro cost. I asked if there were other guests and how many they would need to make the tour not cancel. He said he didn't have anybody yet but if I was he only one they would do the tour just for me. And they did.

Well maintained hybrid bike. My guide Marina was great. A very interesting person. We saw the entire area. Stopped for coffee at a beautiful seaside cafe. Really got to see how the people live. Just couldn't have been better. They mostly do sports and adventure tours but this sightseeing tour was great. Beautiful lookout. Given their generosity in doing the tour for just one person paying a single group fee it was one of my best bike tour experiences ever. 5 stars.

Great Bike Ride round Zadar We had a lovely ride around Zadar, it's not a bike 'tour' like Fat Tyres in Paris or London (short with regular stops for landmarks/history) but more a bike ride with a guide to show you a nice route, the view and point out a couple of things. There is a bit of a hill up but it is worth it for the view. I'd recommend the evening ride as it would be quite hot cycling in the midday sun and we got to see the sunset at the end. AN INTRIGUING CITY WITH EXCEPTIONAL HISTORY

Zadar

SPHINX OF ZADAR

There aren’t a lot of sphinxes in this part of Europe. Probably, this is the biggest one. It is also a very special Sphinx because it was built in memory of a beloved woman. It is said that it grants love wishes. However, we can only try and see if it’s really true:)

KARMA PROMENADE

Karma is a very beautiful promenade which leads to the old city of Zadar. It’s overlooking the sea, islands and the most stunning sunset in the world. At least, that’s what Alfred Hitchcock said:)

BIKING IN ZADAR

Biking in Zadar is something you must try.The terrain is flat, therefore you can easily cross from one side of the city to another. In fact, that is the reason why Zadar has a highest percentage of cyclists among all cities on the Croatian coast.
