LEARN MORE

Horses were domesticated around 3500 BC. There are more than 300 different horse breeds; however, there is only one true wild horse – Przewalski’s horse. It is also known as a Mongolian wild horse.
Thanks to the ‘stay apparatus’ in their legs horses can sleep not only lying down but also standing up.

HORSE RIDING

Equestrianism is an Olympic sport since 1900. There are several different disciplines such as show jumping, dressage, endurance and combined driving. Today, a man and a horse are bonded more the ever because we use horses for therapeutic purposes, too. Thanks to their character, horses are part of medical treatments for disabled people, both children and adults.

DID YOU KNOW...

…that the horse was domesticated around 3500 years BC?
…that polo originates from Persia?
…that equestrianism was introduced as an Olympic sport in 1900 Summer Olympics?

This cave is the longest one on the coast. A speleologist who was looking for a shelter from a strong wind discovered it accidentally. There are two main channels in the cave; however, only one of them is open to public. The other contains fossil remains of a man from Bronze Age and remains of a cave bear. Luckily, the cave is preserved in its natural state. That is why only small groups can visit it.

ROVANJSKA

Rovanjska is located 30km from Zadar in a beautiful bay. All of these places offer not only beautiful nature but also different activities for dynamic vacation.

STALACTITES AND STALAGMITES

Mineral called calcite is building material of stalactites and stalagmites. When water drips through a cave ceiling it produces stalactites. For this reason they hang from the ceiling. On the other hand, stalagmite is an upward-growing formation. It is produced when water drips on the floor of the cave. Stalactites and stalagmites often have most unusual, artistic shapes.

Very nice experience We were looking for two bikes so we could ride to Nin, a small city near Zadar. In Zzuum they welcomed us in a friendly way and gave us all the information we needed. For only 200 kuna we rented two brand new bikes for 24 hours. The road to Nin goes up and down but with the bicylce gears it was child's play. We would really recomed Zzuum!

Friendly bike rental service This was the only physical bike rental space that we found on Zadar. The others deliver.
Zzuum staff were friendly, gave us island maps and ferry times, and the bikes were fine.
The cycle paths on Ugljan are not well marked! But Zzuum's advice on hidden swimming coves was perfect and we had a great day without the crowds.
Remember to go to the (very modern and efficient) Gazenica ferry port with the bikes to get to the islands, and not the pedestrian-only ferry in the Old Town.
The next day we cycled to Nin. Again cycle path signs are not good and all the one way route out of Zadar is against you. But this made coming back a doodle! Nin is spectacular with the salt pans and very exposed beach. Mid August is not the time to go! Crowds and too hot for those withnsun-sensitive skin

A ROYAL CITY

Nin

BIKE ROUTE TO NIN

Bike route to Nin goes along the seaside which allows you to enjoy the scenery and to discover several small villages while you ride the bike – Diklo, Kožino, Petrčane. They are all situated on the coast and surrounded with old olive groves and pine forests. If you decide to take a rest and go for a swimming, no problem! Just choose the beach you like the most because there will be lots of them on your way to Nin.

CHURCH OF ST. NICHOLAS

Church St. Nicholas was built in late 11th century and at the beginning of 12th century. It is situated on the field of Prahulje and represents the only Dalmatian early-Romanesque church of that type. It is only 5,9 m long, 5,7 m wide and 6m high. This church has an important place in Croatian history because seven kings of Croatian dynasty were crowned there.

ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF NIN

For those who want to learn a bit more about the history of Nin, The Museum of Nin Antiquities is the place where you should start. There you can see the remains of Prehistoric, Roman and Old Croatian life of Nin displayed in seven rooms depending on the period and the theme they describe. The most valuable findings are two original typical Croatian boats from 11th century called Condura Croatica.

What People Say?

  • Four of us rented MTB bikes from Zzuum and did a self guided 3-day tour along island Dugi otok.
Bikes were goof quality, reliable, maintained, prepared for the route. Everything listed as a part of the price came with bikes.

Communication with Zzuum was efficient, fast and professional.

Big thanks to Mrs. Adrijana who waited for us to return bikes even after working hours due to our tight schedule.

We will definitely rent bikes at Zzuum in future as well. 🙂 🙂

Highly recommended! Nicolas was very helpful in organising our cycling tour of Uglian and Dugi Otok. The bikes he provided us with were in great condition and very well equipped with panniers, water bottle, tools etc. We booked our own accommodation (as his recommendations were fully booked) and Nicolas provided the bikes, suggested routes and transfers, including a private boat transfer from Pasman to Dugi Otok and luggage transfers as required. The transfers all worked faultlessly with very pleasant drivers. I'll also add that Nicolas was very patient and helpful with our requests and was a pleasure to do business with.
    Highly recommended!

Excellent experience, great customer service! Excellent customer service with great flexibility and personalized advise. Quality of the bikes is also great: bikes are clean, well-functioning and you receive all necessary equipment for your tour (e.g helmets, pump, additional tires, drinking bottles, etc.). Would definitely recommend!

    positive review

Nicholas at Zzuum customised an eight day, self guided, cycle tour of the Zadarian hinterland and archipelago for my wife and I, earlier this month. He was extremely flexible to our wishes and needs and produced a tour which we will long remember and almost certainly repeat. Our trekking bikes, though three years old, were in perfect working order (and are due to be replaced next year). The itinerary was carefully planned to include the most beautiful parts of a beautiful area. The accommodation was just what we requested and the luggage transfers, ferry and speedboat transfers were seamless. The customer service was the best we have encountered in many such cycle tours and in particular, Nicholas's attention to detail in the weeks of preparation made a potentially complicated tour so very easy and enjoyable. Many, many thanks.

Perfect We went there ahead of time to find out what this would be all about. They were extremely helpful. We arranged a time for the next day. At the end of September, they seemed to have plenty of extra bikes. They gave us bottles of flavored mineral water and snacks to take with us. They told us how to get to the ferry for biking the island. I admit we were a little confused trying to find the ferry but after I spent more time looking at the map they gave us, it was really my fault. They provided a pack on the bike so we could put our extra things on the bike instead of our backpacks. The island is super beautiful. We biked a lot and had a nice dinner at a quiet restaurant along the sea.

Great bikes & service Both Adrijana and nicolas have been great with us in supplying us with ideal bikes for our trip to dugi otok and the salt lake. Pannier bags were provided for all our things as well as spare tubes/ pump and toolkit in case of any problems. The bikes themselves are ideal with good gearing( needed it for some of the hills up to a fabulous viewpoint!) and disc brakes. Lovely people who will accomodate your every need with a smile. Pleasure meeting you and keep up the great service you provide

Don't go cheap, just go Zzuum! During our holiday to Croatia this summer, we decided to have a cycle trip around the islands using the ferry. So we needed two proper bikes (not those wrecks you tend to get in most rental shops) with bags and some decent advise. We looked at all the options, others offered fairly cheaper, but were immediately persuaded by Nicolas's professionality, knowledge and swift response. A whole lot of questions went back and forward but this was no problem what so ever. So once arrived the bikes where all ready and waiting for us. After a patient briefing on where to go and what to do we set of escaping the masses for Dugi Otok. I would recommend doing this slightly later in the season, like in september, if you're not so good with the heat but overall, it was a beautiful experience giving us the most stunning views. Would do it again in a heartbeat!!

Great bike tour to Ugljan The bikes we hired were brand new and Nicolas prepared everything for us according to our height. We were provided by spare tyres, maps, energy drinks. The location of the office is great as you can easily ride to the ferry port.
It was a real adventure for our kids, we enjoyed the nice views and the hidden beaches.
Zzuum staff is very professional, I recommend their service and hope to come back soon for another tour.
    Thank you Zzuum !

Two day bike trip oj ulijan and pasman My boyfriend and I rented the hybrid bikes for two days for our island exploration. The bikes were in excellent conditions, and most importantly the staff (Nicolas) was so helpful and patient in sitting down with us and explaining all technical details we need to know, not rushing us in making any decisions. He also gave us many options on bike routes, beaches to go to as well as helped to call camp site and reserved spaces for us. He offered so many personal help to us to make our trip wonderful, so many help that I cannot even list every single one here. I find this to be the most amazing part of zzuum comparing to other bike rentals, which I have also done extensive research with before renting bikes. Having the face to face communication at their office downtown was an essential and comforting experience for me, and I would rent with them again in my next trip to zadar.

Good bikes & exellent service We rented our bikes online, and everything was well prepared when we arrived in Zadar. The bikes were good, and took us around on asphalt and dirt roads in Zadar, Ugljan, Patsmani and Dugi Otok. We especially got fond of the coast road from Preko all the way down to Tkon, and the area around Sali. Two tips : Need a break from biking ? - try one day on a guided kayak tour ! (zzuum knows who to contact) Note that the boats between Zadar and Sali usually don't take bikes in the high season !
    Conclusion : highly recommended !

Great bikes and service We hired two bikes for one week to cycle from Zadar to Hvar. Nicolas had the bikes ready and waiting for us when we arrived. The bikes were in great condition and over the 400 kms or so that we biked we had zero issues. Biking from Zadar to Split was along the coastal road and was mostly good but at times the traffic was a little hairy. In general though the drivers were fairly courteous and we never really felt in any danger. We would recommend for any well seasoned bikers. We also went to the island of Vir for the day and a large part of that route was on a dedicated bike path. Nicolas told us of a bike route north and east to Zagreb that we would like to do in the next year or two. We'd definitely be renting bikes from Nicolas again.

4 days in Zadar, biking about we stayed in Zadar for four days and used Zzuum bikes to get about and see all the sights.
The guy running Zzuum was terrific - friendly knowledgeable and helpful, and the bikes were good value.

We took them on the car ferry to Bribinj and had a great day cycling up to Bozava and back, the bikes were perfect for this.

The rental shop is conveniently located in the middle of the old town.

AN ISLAND OF DIVERSITY AND CONTRASTS

Dugi otok

SAHARUN

First of all, the beach Saharun is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Croatian coast. It has gained the reputation because of the white sand and clear blue sea. Saharun is surrounded by pine trees that provide a welcome shade in the summer. Obviously, these are all reasons for its popularity. Furthermore, it is almost 800 metres long and at some 250 metres from the shore it is 3.5 metres deep.

SALI

Village Sali is located on north-eastern coast of Dugi otok and has the largest population. It is very popular tourist destination because of its vicinity to the Kornati National Park and Telašćica Nature Park. You can discover its rich past in several churches, enjoy numerous outdoor activities but one thing you shouldn’t miss – Sali Festival called Saljske užance and its unique Tovareća mužika (donkey music).

LIGHTHOUSE

The lighthouse Veli rat was built in the 19th century and it is 42 metres high. In fact, Veli rat is the highest lighthouse on the Adriatic coast. Just behind the lighthouse you can find the chapel of St. Nicholas. As soon as you get here, you will realize why this is so popular destination. Definitely, a “must see” while on Dugi otok!
